Caring With Confidence

What is Caring with Confidence?

Through a range of information and training activities, Caring with Confidence aims to help Carers throughout East Dunbartonshire make a positive difference to their lives - and to those of the people they care for.

The name 'Caring with Confidence' has been developed following national research commissioned into Carers’ views about their situation, the concept of a new Carers programme and the types of words that resonate with them.

Along with some other Carer Organisations, we have therefore decided to use Caring with Confidence as an umbrella term for our learning and information programme. The programme is funded until March 2011 by East Dunbartonshire Community Health Partnership as part of the local implementation of the NHS Carer Information Strategy.

Caring with Confidence aims to:

  • Help Carers build on their strengths
  • Give Carers opportunities to share their experiences and learn from others in similar situations
  • Provide useful information, ideas and tips about looking after someone
  • Work with Carers to decide what changes they would like to see in their caring role
  • Raise awareness of Carers’ rights and the support services available in East Dunbartonshire

How is this achieved?

The Caring with Confidence team has developed a rolling programme of courses and events, held throughout East Dunbartonshire. There is also a range of informal groups where Carers can come together, have a 'blether' and share experiences with other Carers. Some of these groups have invited speakers, while others are just coffee, chat and cake!
