Carers Link East Dunbartonshire and East Dunbartonshire’s Young Carers Network have been successful in a joint application for funding to develop a pilot project to provide support to Young Adult Carers aged between 16-25.
This time in life can be difficult for most people as they make important decisions about their future. For Young Adult Carers, choices may be influenced and restricted by their caring role in relation to education, training, employment, leaving home and becoming an adult.
The overall aim of the service for Young Adult Carers is to increase their confidence and assist them to develop greater skills and abilities to cope with challenges of caring and transitioning into adulthood. This will be achieved by providing time-out activities, short-breaks, training, advocacy and emotional support to 40 Young Adult Carers over the course of a 6-month pilot project being provided jointly by these two local organisations providing services to young and adult Carers.
If you know of anyone whom you think would benefit from this service please pass on this information, or if you have any questions please phone Fiona at Carers Link on 0800 975 2131.
